Biomar, Chile

The Customer

Biomar Chile, S.A. is the national subsidiary of Biomar, the Danish business group with more than 40 years experience in the production and distribution of high-quality, nutritious feed for the aquaculture industry. Biomar is the third largest fish feed producer worldwide and a leader in research and development.

The Issue

As salmon feed suppliers, Biomar's business involves complex logistics for land sea transportation, which are subject to variables such as climate conditions and specific client requests. Effective communication with its clients is critical, particularly when fulfilling the needs of a rapidly growing industry. Biomar was gathering data separately from the main office and its two plants, an inefficient and time-consuming process. Without consolidated information, coordinating purchase orders, requisitions and invoicing was a challenge and contributed to high communication costs.

The Solution

To improve its internal and client communication, Biomar needed to create a secure, integrated network and improve its resource management. By joining its three sites with a VPN connection, the company saved 30% in monthly service costs.

Dallas Police Department

The Customer

Since its creation more than one hundred years ago, the Dallas Police Department has taken special pride in helping to make Dallas, Texas a safe place to live, work, and visit. Nearly 3,000 sworn officers and 550 civilians make up the department, serving the one million citizens of Dallas.

The Issues

The Dallas Police Department needed a low-cost, e-mail solution for its 3,500 users. Its previous Internet e-mail system lacked an employee lookup feature and wasn't scalable past 2,000 users. Also, the police department needed to control the employee use of Internet resources.
