SPECMail is a standard e-mail system benchmarking tool which simulates real world messaging activity and measures how well a particular system performs. Recently published SPECMail numbers for NIMS 3.1, now known as NetMail, indicate that 210,000 POP users can be supported on a single NetWare server with a single processor (see configuration diagram and detail summary for system configuration details). The SPECMail tool simulates 30% concurrency.
Although SPECMail results are most useful for comparative purposes (your actual mileage may vary depending upon driving conditions), these results for NetMail are indicative of the scalability and performance for which NetMail is well known.
