MTASieve 1.00

From Josh Gibbs of Digital Integration, creator of the i-MailDS mail server for NetWare, and Michael Bell, creator of the Guinevere snap-in for GroupWise systems, comes a new product you might want to take a look at. MTASieve is an NLM which runs "piggy-back" on your GroupWise MTA (Message Transfer Agent) and provides powerful extra administrative functions to your GroupWise system:

  • Leverage third party Antivirus vendor NLMs to scan all inter-post-office e-mail for viruses and prevent them from passing through the MTA
  • Prevent oversized attachments from passing through the MTA
  • Prevent specific files or file types from passing through the MTA
  • Archive specific messages

MTASieve is supported on any NetWare 4.1x or 5.x server platform. It requires GroupWise 5.5.2 or higher. The GroupWise Enhancement Pack and the upcoming "BulletProof" release are also supported.

GroupWise Archive Manager 1.0.47 Updated Dec. 13, 2000

The GroupWise Archive Manager assists users and administrators in dealing with the task of maintaining GroupWise archives. The utility provides two functions, to remind and assist users in archiving their mail based on predefined thresholds and to maintain multiple archive directories based on calendar year. In this way archive directories do not become unmanageable, and older archives directories can be groomed to tape or other more economical storage.

The HTML Support C3PO
Here is the C3PO included with GroupWise 5.5. Being the generous sort of people that we are, we're making it available for free to our existing 5.2 customers as well.

The HTML Support C3PO lets you read native HTML messages using the default GroupWise mail views. Cool! You can also run scripts that use the GroupWise tokens and the GroupWise Object API to automate tasks. We've included a few sample scripts here that you can download and try out.

One thing that you need to be aware of is that this C3PO will only install if you have Internet Explorer installed. The scripting support requires Internet Explorer 4.0 while reading HTML messages only requires IE 3.0.  Now, this doesn't mean that Internet Explorer has to be your default browser. It only means that you have to have it installed.

The HTML Support C3PO is available for download in two forms. The first is a self-extracting install. If you want to install the C3PO on your own machine to try it out, this is the option you should select. The second form is intended for administrators who want to control how the C3PO gets distributed within their organization. With this option, all the files necessary to perform the install are extracted to a directory of your choosing. Included with this option is a readme.html file that contains more information on customizing the install (e.g., silent install, install directory, etc.).

If you want to install this C3PO on your own machine to try it out, you should download this version. {305K}

If you are an administrator who is interested in distributing the C3PO to your users, download this version. After installing, open the file readme.html.  {310K}

If you would like to try out some of the sample scripts, download this. After installing the scripts, open the file sgallery.html for more information on each sample. {116K}

If you would like to write your own scripts, or create and send your own HTML Messages, download this package. {110K}

Mass Forward Posted July 19, 2000
This utility for the GroupWise 5.x client provides the added functionality to select multiple messages from the GroupWise folder or mailbox and seamlessly forward them as multiple attachments to a single message. In addition, the utility will also extract text from multi-attachment messages to create a single message and will allow users to include, for non-repudiation reasons, the original message as an attachment to the reply.

This utility is fee based and comes with an evaluation nag screen. Full documentation is included with the utility.

Mark Read Posted January 12, 2001
This is a FREE little utility that provides GroupWise 5.2 clients with the functionality to mark multiple messages as READ without having to open them all. Month View c3po
This killer c3po lets you view appointments, notes, and tasks, drumroll please, by month. You can run it stand-alone, from the Main Window menu, or even a toolbar button.

There are some special stipulations for this special c3po: You must have a standard install of the 32-bit client, and you must be using GroupWise 5.2. That number again: 5.2. Also, the install isn’t quite as hassle-free as for other c3pos. First, download the GWMVIEW.ZIP file that contains several important files, and unzip to the directory you run GroupWise from. Next, run SETUP3PO.EXE. Notice the new menu option under the 32-bit client's Window menu: Calendar Month View. The toolbar button is a red and white calendar. And take advantage of the README.TXT file zipped in with the rest of the files. You’ll thank us later.
To download a .ZIP file, right-click the link and click Save Link As. We know, sounds wierd, but you won’t like the alternative either.

Forwarded Mail C3PO
Don’t you hate getting embedded forwarded messages? You know, the kind where you have to open 29 (it seems) layers to get to the message. Well this C3PO will fix that. When you open a forwarded message, if the message box is empty,  the attached message is automatically opened.  When you close one of the views, they all close.

Message Enhancement Pack version 2
Fresh from the fertile mind of Rich Hume, here is the latest, and by far the greatest, version of this enormously popular C3PO. It still lets you spell check before you send, change your display font and print font, but it is now new and improved with a special whitening agent. Have you ever wanted to use bullets and alignment options (such as center or right)? Thanks to all of you who sent in your comments and suggestions, this thing really rocks. Here’s what’s new:
Enhancements:
1. When replying, it is now possible to apply alternate fonts and/or font attributes (bold, color, etc.).
2. The options wizard now exposes the Enabled setting for the font changes, so that you can individually disable one or more of the font change features.
3. You can now modify settings by running gwmpinst.exe after installation. This file gets copied to the install directory (typically c:\novell\groupwise). You no longer have to exit the GroupWise client to run this.
4. New Retrieve File option available when composing an item. You can retrieve plain text files, RTF files, and WP5.1 files into the message body.
5. Better support for draft messages.
6. Better support for resending messages.
7. It is better, faster, stronger.

GWCheck
This is the text-based stand-alone version of GroupWise Check (GWCheck). You can run it against the message store and the archive and remote databases to check and repair content and structure problems, to reset client options, or to expire messages. It has more capabilities than the GroupWise Check provided with the GroupWise 5.1 snap-in to NWAdmn3x. Questions? See document 10025211 at the Novell Support Connection. Beware, gwcheck is very large, and will likely take you forever to download.

GroupWise Screen Saver
Download this cool screen saver and select it in  your Windows settings. Why is it cool? Because it lets people leave messages right on your screen saver and they’ll appear in your GroupWise Mailbox. Just download Screen.zip, then unzip it into your Windows directory. This screen saver even lets you decide which bitmap you want to use.
To download a .ZIP file, right-click the link and click Save Link As. We know, sounds wierd, but you won’t like the alternative either.

Upgrade Guide

Novell Consulting Toolkit
Designed to make life easier for the system administrator, this Toolkit contains downloadable tools, design and implementation strategies, and troubleshooting techniques from the amiable Novell Consultants who dash around like Novell Ghostbusters, making the world safe for networking. Currently there are four handy little GroupWise wrenches and screwdrivers in there that will make life a bit easier for you.

1. Download a Customized View for GW4.1
This is a self-extracting custom view for GroupWise 4.1a. If you use it to send tasks, you will get a reminder message mailed to you the day the task is due.

2. CN to DN Resolver, v0.90
This utility can be used to simplify modifying all the Network ID fields in the GroupWise address book to have a full distinguished name (typeless) so that GroupWise will use the existing login ID in a NetWare 4 environment.

3.  GW5 Registry Cleanup
This is a support program which assists in removing entries from the registry.

4.  MHS Distribution Tool, v1.21
This is a self-extracting file containing an NLM, an installation batch file, supporting DOS utilities, and a WP README file which is about 20 pages of documentation. The NLM provides system maintenance, software and data distribution functionality to NetWare servers running MHS. It was originally developed as a component of a migration plan from a 40,000 user MHS system to GroupWise. It provided the data transport to allow GroupWise user data to be merged with the MHS address book without further expanding the MHS user database.
