This is a feature called QuickCorrect.

QuickCorrect will automatically replace your common spelling errors and mistyped words.

To turn off QuickCorrect do the following:

  1. In the Message box of an item you are creating, click Tools > QuickCorrect.
  2. Click the Replace Words As You Type check box to deselect it.
