A:
Our first attempt to print an archived calendar item worked just fine for us, so we peppered Kenny with some questions. What version of GroupWise® are you on? Mostly GW 5.2.3 and a few GW 5.5.1 clients; the servers have all been upgraded to GW 5.5.1 (recently). What specific kind of archived item are you trying to print? Calendar items ... any of them (appointments, notes, or tasks). How long has the item to print been archived? About 6 months (give or take). The items are there in archive because I can view them, but the Print Calendar feature does not seem to see archived calendar items. Have you tried this for more than one user? Absolutely, this problem seems to be there for everyone. At present, we are telling people that it cannot be done and to work around it (with a quick unarchive, then print, then quickly archive it again so as to avoid the Cleanup option's ever watchful eye).

Now here's the official answer from our calendar printing expert: "Kenny's policy of temporarily unarchiving calendar items in order to print them on a calendar is probably the best solution for the present. The Item Printing feature may allow individual calendar items to be printed directly from an archive, but the Calendar Printing feature in the 5.x 32-bit client currently does not."

The following method is the best way to get a printout of your calendar without the worry of forgetting to re-archive your items.

  1. In GroupWise Archive, open the calendar view that you would like to use (I prefer weekly).
  2. If you need to maximize the size of the calendar, go to View, Folder List. Also, I hide the taskbar by resizing it. (A great way to zoom into the dates and get beautiful printouts.)
  3. Press the Print Scrn (Print Screen) key on the keyboard.
  4. Open the Paint program.
  5. In Paint, go to Edit, Paste.
  6. In Paint, go to File, Print. (You can also save your calendar for future reference or printouts.)
  7. Remember to restore your Folders List by going to View, Folder List and the Taskbar by resizing it!
