Q:
Can you help me find a good document on setting up NDPS to print to remote printers that are attached via nprinter? I've been through the very basic novell documentation. I complete this process fine, but at the end where it says you have to select the SAP emulated pserver I can't work out how to do this with nprinter on a win98 PC. Also can anyone give me any pointers on attaching a printer connected directly to a win2000/XP PC to NDPS?

You need to use specifically NPTWIN95 (as opposed to literally NPRINTER) if you're not already. Use NPTWIN95.EXE from your SYS:PUBLIC\WIN95 directory on NetWare 5.0 or later, or from NPTR95B.EXE See http://support.novell.com/cgi-bin/search/searchtid.cgi?/2961506.htm
In NPTWIN95 you will select "bindery" at which point it will list all the SAPing PSERVER names the workstation can see (which is where you'll see the name you defined when setting up the NDPS printer agent in remote printer over IPX mode).
How Do You Configure Remote Printers in NDPS?
A common recommendation for NT/2000/XP is to setup the LPD emulation service that comes with Windows and then configure NDPS to print to the workstation-attached printer via LPR (remote printer over IP), just as you would to make NDPS print to any type of network-attached printer available via LPD/LPR.
How can NDPS use a printer locally attached to a Windows NT or Windows 2000 workstation using LPR?
For either the 9x or NT/2000/XP cases, you might want to consider the cost of management hassle versus just network-attaching the printers directly (via JetDirect, etc.). NPRINTER-type connectivity has long been on its way out, and even though Windows supplies LPD emulation on the later Windows platforms, it's still a lot of local workstation configuration to go through for a resource that could be available for everyone independent of the workstation if it were simply directly network-attached.
