Partitions and object movement

Q:
If I want to move an OU object, ConsoleOne tells me that I have to make a new partition with this OU object. Is moving of OU objects possible without creating new partitions? If no, how can I handle this situation with DirXML?

A:
If a container is non-empty, then to move it you must make it into a partition root. If a container is empty, it can be moved without making it a partition root.

However, once a container is a partition root, it must be moved using partitioning operations (until after you join it with its parent partition, of course).
