Finding a PC inside the VPN

Novell Cool Solutions: Question & Answer

Posted: 26 Jan 2005

Q:
I need to reach my VPN C2S PC from the inside. We must customize this PC remotely.

A:
Do you just need to do this one time? If this is BM 3.8 IKE-based VPN, you can use NRM on the BMgr server to do VPN Monitoring. If you look at the activity for clients there, you will see the IP address assigned to the client PC. This may be the only way to see the assigned address, other than capturing packets sent by the VPN PC.

If this is the only VPN client connected, it will have the first IP address in the 3.8 VPN pool.

If this is BM 3.7 or earlier VPN, the PC's address will be its actual address - the VPN does not assign an address in this version of VPN.
