3.5 Master and 3.8 Slave

Q:
Can I use an NBM 3.5 Master and an NBM 3.8 Slave together?

A:
Should be OK. I've set up a 3.8 slave to a 3.7 master before, and a 3.5 master should be about the same as a 3.7 master.

You run VPNCFG on the slave in the same way as though it were a 3.5 server. However, you have to manually load VPSLAVE (add it to autoexec.ncf). The 3.8 VPN config won't do that automatically for you as it did with 3.7 and earlier (in my experience).

If the BM3.5 master server uses 56-bit encryption and the BM3.8 is 128-bit, you need to upgrade TCP/IP & NICI modules on the 3.5 server to 128-bit. It is possible the latest service packs will do this automatically.
