Q:
This is a problem concering logon-time in Windows XP (SP1 or SP2) and SL 3.5.1 (SP1). We've installed SL using Active Dir. - Saving the local cache in the users profile. The profile is roaming. We thought it would be smart to use it this way so people can switch machines and still use SL to the fullest. It actually works well indeed. The problem here is that logon-time takes up to 10 minutes. It still works but this is totally unacceptable.

A:
Try TID 10090720. It suggests setting the registry key "useCryptProtectData" to dword:00000000. This can cut your login times by up to half.

  • This sounds like a roaming profile issue, not SL. Probably what is happening is the "my documents" folder is roaming with them. If you disable this part logins go much faster.
