Logging across a WAN link

Q:
Can I fully log a server across a 128Kb WAN link (about 100 users), without completely clogging the link?
A:
How much bandwidth is consumed depends on what events you wish to log. The best answer I can give you is to calculate the events to be logged and the rate you expect them to be generated. According to the MySQL section of the "Configuring System Channels" chapter in the Administration manual, an average event size is around 80 bytes. I would base my bandwidth calculations on 1/10th of a kilobit per event to allow for communications overhead. If you use the 80 events per second value from the same page in the manual, Novell Audit is going to use around 8 kilobits of your WAN link.
