Updating Printer Driver

Novell Cool Solutions: Question & Answer

Q:
I am trying to update the printer driver on a workstation by going through NDPS Remote Printer Management, but can't seem to get it to work. We are using NW 6.0 sp4 and did an update to iPrint NW Post Consolidated Support Pack 10b. Any hints?

A:
We assume you have already uploaded the new driver into the RMS database, and that it replaced an existing driver (as opposed to being added as an additional driver).

  1. In NWAdmin go to the Remote Printer Management (RPM) tab for the user, group, or container that is associated with the printer agent.
  2. In the 'Add' printer list, click on the printer for which you want the driver updated and click once to select it. That will activate the [Update Driver] button.
  3. Click that button and the timestamp will be updated.
Note that even if you do not update a driver, if you click that button the timestamp gets updated and the driver will push again because the RPM timestamp will be newer than what's recorded in the workstation registry.

You can do the same in iManager under iPrint Management|RPM Config.
