Users don't care if new iPrint client is available
Novell Cool Solutions: Question & Answer

Q:
We recently upgraded our servers to NW6.5sp1.1, but a new problem has cropped up. Now when the users log on they are notified that a new iPrint client is available and asked if they would like to install it. As you might expect, they don't have a clue how to answer that question. Is there a way of suppressing this message? It is very confusing to them (and thus, annoying to me).
A:
Yes. What's happening is that unless you tell it not to, the iPrint client will check for updates every time workstation boots up, and prompt the user if it finds any.
To tell it not to check for updates, you simply edit the SYS:\LOGIN\IPPDOCS\IPRINT.INI and set
AllowAutoUpdate = 0
Check out this TID for more information. (On NW6.5 the iprint.ini is somewhere in the sys:\apache2\htdocs\ippdocs.)
