Updated Virtual Office files won't display in IE

Q:
I have a problem with Virtual Office. When I update my files using the community file share, they won't display in Internet Explorer, but they show up in other browsers. Any ideas?

A:
This only happens in Internet Explorer because IE will cache all content from the web site prior to displaying it in the browser. In the HTTP header the "Last-Modified" date that comes back from the web server is always showing as:

[ "Last-Modified: Wed, 01 Jan 1970 00:00:00 GMT".]

Each time a request is made from the local machine to read this file IE reads the header and assumes that no changes have been made and returns the contents from cache. The updates will not display until the temporary internet files are deleted from the browser.

This has been reported to engineering as a defect. Currently the only workaround is to delete the temporary internet files when using IE.
