Multiple User Modifications

Novell Cool Solutions: Question & Answer

Posted: 6 May 2002

Q:
I'm an attorney and we're just about to get iFolder so we can keep our case notes available to the whole team. I'm a little confused about one thing. What happens if I make changes to a file, and someone else has it open at the same time? Does iFolder keep track of the last modification if multiple users access the same file at the same time?

A:
The latest file that is saved is the file that is updated on the server. You may want to coordinate your access with the other people on your team to avoid problems. iFolder accepts the file with the latest time stamp into the iFolder directory. If the same file is saved on another machine with an earlier time stamp, the file is saved in the iFolder conflict bin and can be restored at any time.
