Updated: 19 May 2005 - Solution from Gert ter Burg.

Doing the unarchive with a remote mailbox does not create traffic to the live mailbox and databases. Just create a remote mailbox and don't bring it to the caching or online mode and don't let it check regularly. Then assign the archive path to that remote mailbox and do the unarchive rearchive thing. You might have to use GW5AFE or FIDIT by EmailEssentials to assign the FID of the remote mailbox to the archive.

Updated: 05 May 2005 - Leon Polak shares his solution for this question:

I have recently re-joined many archives by using the following:

  • For speed, go to the smallest archive and unarchive (back online). We have 200MB quota but unarchiving seems to always allow exceeding the quota.
  • Point to the next smallest, etc until you have done all but the largest.
  • Point to the largest and start re-archiving (Ctrl+F and enter to find all - sort by date and start at oldest)
  • Time-consuming, but it seems to work well...

Good luck

03 March 2005 - If you still have access to the archives on the first computer, there is a tool from Email Essentials Inc. called GroupWise Archive Merge Utility that will merge different archives into one.
