However, when viewing the servers to add screen, the only objects shown are servers and cluster resources. I can choose a cluster resource and install on that and it will load, but then the distributor only sees files on this resource or the fixed volumes of current node holding this resource.
If I have a cluster with multiple volumes, I need to install ZfS into each resource to ensure proper fail over and functionality. However, as you have documented, this is not supported (I did come close to getting it to work but the zenworks.properties in sys:\system is a problem). If I were truly able to select the cluster object, it seems to me this would allow the distributor to see all resources.
With ZfD 4.01 Novell released a new version of the installation CD to allow installation into the cluster (added the ability to select a cluster resource). Has Novell done the same with ZfS 3.02?
A:
ZENworks for Servers 3.0.2, 6.5, and soon to be shipping version 7 are only supported running a single instance. In the case of a cluster, ZfS should be installed to the Cluster Resource, not to the individual nodes. This way, your Distributor/Subscriber is always up and running, not matter which node is holding the Shared Resource. Each of the nodes would have a copy of the same zenworks.properties files pointing to the Shared Volume. I have heard of some customers doing this differently, but installing to the Cluster Resource is the supported configuration.
