What is in my computer? Is there a tool which lists the hardware in my computer?

A:
There is a tool called "hwinfo". It lists the hardware which is inside of you computer.

  • OK get real here. I ran the hwinfo command after su(ing) to root and piped the out put to less. After going through 3400+ lines I did find most of the hardware I think. Then I brought up YaST, selected hardware, then hardware info. A nice list similar to the Windows device manager comes up. Why are you all trying to be difficult - do you not want people to make the switch from Windows to Linux? The SuSE Linux Administration training manual recomends using YaST for many tasks like this, why didn't you?
  • For first-timers, it would have been better to include the option "--short" to give a clearer view of the installed hardware. hwinfo --short | less
