Loopback with group object creation

Novell Cool Solutions: Question & Answer

Q:
I have two trees, one for meta-directory (Tree-1) and the other for general use (Tree-2). I wrote a policy so that when I add an OU object in Tree-1, a new group obect is added in Tree-2. When the new group object is created in Tree-2, will I be notified of the event?

A:
The group add event will not loop back. The AD driver is an odd case. AD does not provide sufficient information in its change logs for DirXML to be able to tell who performed an event, thus loopback prevention is not a feature of the AD driver.

eDir-eDir and most of the other drivers won't loop back events by design. If you need a command to execute on both sides, your policy will need to explicitly send the command to both the source and destination.
