Q:
Will eDirectory ever generate documents containing remove-all-values, or will it always optimize attribute modifications to a set of remove-value and add-value actions?

I'm implementing a few policies that need to loop over added/deleted values for an attribute. I know that other drivers (such as AD) handle attribute changes by using remove-all-values followed by a series of add-value elements. But my policies will only be acting on changes flowing from eDirectory.

Coming from eDirectory, a remove-all-values is used under the following conditions:

1. For stream attributes
2. For counter attributes
3. When a merge happens and eDir is the authoritative source for an attribute. A merge can happen because of a resync, a migrate, or a matching policy match.
