Invalid Password error

Q:
I've got a question about two error messages: invalid password / can't contact ldap server (81)
I assume that these two errors (invalid password when trying to create a user on a workstation, and the "can't contact ldap server (81)" on the server console) are related. How do I solve them?
A:
Look at the HTTPD_ADDITIONS_NW.CONF file as this has all the information on the LDAP server and the Login context.
Firstly check that the LDAP port is correct (secure 636, standard is 389), if you are using the secure port and the LDAP server is on the same box you can just use the Standard LDAP port, or can just be used for the purpose of testing.
Also check in the file for something like LDAPSearchDNContext. At the end of that line there is the login context "O=TREENAME". Just in front of the O enter a * so that the line will look like "*O=TREENAME". This will search all sub-containers from that point. So the TREENAME should be the point that you want to search from, normally [Root].
