Controlling VPN traffic

Novell Cool Solutions: Question & Answer

Q:
I need more granular controll over traffic going through our VPN. Traffic rules are not enough. Is it possible to set filters on the BM3.8 VPN interface, such as using VPTUNNEL? Are there any pitfalls in doing so?

A:
Yes, I have at least one client who controls traffic across VPN links to multiple clients of his own, using an approach like that. And I have configured filter exceptions allowing certain types of access from the VPTUNNEL interface to particular public addresses for special purposes. The interface looks like a normal interface as far as the filters and routing are concerned.
