Applying configuration changes

Novell Cool Solutions: Question & Answer

Posted: 2 Jun 2005

Q:
Does anybody know when changes to the naudit configuration are applied? As far as I can see there are three places where settings are stored: logevent.cfg, NCP server object, and SLS server object. Documentation says the SLS server object is only read when lengine loads, so changes here require reloading lengine.nlm.

But what about logevent.cfg and the NW/NSS/NDS instrumentation settings on the NCP server object? Do I have to reload logevent.nlm and/or auditds.nlm,auditnw.nlm to activate changes or are these monitored?

A:
Changes to the logevent.cfg and the NCP server object are read by the platform agent when it loads. The platform agent can be reloaded after making changes using the auditstp.ncf and auditagt.ncf scripts.
