What shall I do if X crashes and nothing works anymore?

A:
The easiest possibility is to press ctrl-alt-bksp. You also can try to login from a remote machine and kill X then.

  • What if even the keyboard doesn't work anymore? reset can result in severe damage even if there's no writnig on hd, as I once experienced.
