Roll forward logging service
Novell Cool Solutions: Question & Answer
Q:
We have a server where Embox roll-forward logging was in use. Stopping the
logging in iManager stops the last open log from increasing in size, but it remains held open by Embox with the time stamp updating (even through a
reboot). How do we stop the roll forward service completely so the log
directory can be removed?
A:
You don't - RFL provides the transaction system for the FLAIM database,
and it is required for operation. This RFL capability replaces what the
RECMAN database used - NetWare's TTS. The option in iManager tells the system whether to preserve the old logs for purposes of using hot continuous backup.
If you need to remove the volume where it is currently located, you can set the directory to SYS:_NETWARE\nds.rfl, which is the default value.
