I don't want splashscreen during boot sequence. Can I turn it off?

A:
look for splash=verbose in the file "/boot/grub/menu1st"

change the splash=verbose to splash=0 or splash=silent

and that should do the trick.

  • The default for SUSE 10.0 appears to be splash=silent and yet the "hit esc for details" screen is still showing up at boot. This is really annoying (although not as bad as the mouse side buttons not working).
