Q:
We have a temp employee who is not on our system's payroll. Currently, she keeps her own log of work arrivals and departures. Could I use Audit to generate a clock-in/clock-out report for her manager to view on a weekly basis (based on when she logs in and out of her PC)? Better yet, could this report be set up to be automatically sent to the manager either every week or every other week?
A:
You could set up a notification channel to a second database table and
have it collect login events for her account and logout events
for her PC. You could then define a query for the manager in iManager
to return the current or previous week's data.
As far as automating the notification, that would be difficult in Audit alone. The notification process is based on event occurrence, not time parameters.
If you have a programmer skilled with MySQL and Perl, you could write a
Perl script to retrieve, format, and store the report and call the script with the NetWare CRON facility.
