NAT and PPTP

Novell Cool Solutions: Question & Answer

Posted: 31 Aug 2005

Q:
I'm trying to connect to a PPTP server at another site from a computer on my Novell network. I'm using NBM 3.8 with NAT. I can connect using a computer on the outside of my NBM server, no problem. However, password authentication times out from this computer inside my NBM server. I have enabled NAT Pass Thru and have removed all filtering. Any ideas what I can try next?

A:
The NAT in NBM doesn't allow PPTP to work. The only way to connect at this point is to put the workstation on the public side of the NBM server. The NAT pass thru is used if the PPTP is physically on the NAT box.
