ADSL connections
Novell Cool Solutions: Question & Answer

Q:
Will Border Manager 3.8 handle an ADSL connection? If so, will it handle Static or Dynamic IP addresses or both? Can a "mini-domain" like dynDNS.org be used to map a domain name to a dynamic IP address? Most of my customers have their Domain name attached to a commercial hosting site in the USA or elsewhere.
A:
No. What you have to do is to get a small router (Linksys, Netgear, Cisco, etc.) to make the ADSL connection for you. Those routers also have built-in
DynDNS support.
The only feature you lose when using a system like this (in my experience)
is VPN. You can set up the BM 3.8 VPN to use the router's public IP
address, but if the address changes, the VPN fails, and you have to set it
up again with the new address.
