Q:
I have put Linux on my home network. The other 2 machines run XP. I have become hooked on the Linux machine. I can print from it. It can share files with the other 2 machines. BUT it goes on the web but won't load some sites. I am using Mozilla but this happens with Konkerer as well. Could it be my router...or do some web sites not like Linux?
A:
There are a lot of sites that are made by MS software for viewing by IE. These often do not conform to open standards, as that is not usually an MS strategy. They want you to do their thing. I know that if you use Firefox on MS you can get a plugin to view IE files, whether that works on Linux, I don't know. Sometimes you can configure your browsers to identify itself as IE, and this works. The best thing though is try viewing them on IE and if that works then email the site support letting them know your problem with your favourite browser. Eventually they will get the message and make sure open standards are adhered to. Stomfi
