Novell Cool Solutions: Question & Answer

Q:
I updated to eDirectory 8.7.3.4, but the LDAP schema didn't update correctly. ConsoleOne complains about it when going into LDAP servers. I couldnt find anything about manually updating schema for LDAP in the Knowledge Base ...

A:
You can use the utility ndssch.exe in sys:public to manually extend the schema with the definitions in any .sch file. Just locate the ldap schema definition file in eDirectory 8.7.3.4 (and above) and import with ndssch.exe. Also make sure tahat you're using the correct LDAP snapins that comes with the version of eDir you're using. By default the new snapins are installed into ConsoleOne in the sys:public\mgmt\consoleone\1.2 directory.

The *.sch files are in \edir8734\NW\SYS\SYSTEM\SCHEMA and can be opened with any plain text editor. In case the name doesn't tell you what the schema file is for, look for commentary lines inside.
