Dedicated Identity Vault
Novell Cool Solutions: Question & Answer

Q:
I have a legacy tree that is running IDM 2.01 and has all the users' home
directories. A couple of months ago we deployed a new tree as an Identity vault, all users and passwords have synchronized correctly. Since then we have added several additional users and servers to our ID tree and have decided to migrate all users home directories onto a server in our ID vault tree. Is that the right approach?
A:
You could, but why? The whole point of having an ID vault is that it's a place
for IDM to do what it does, without having anybody trying to use it for anything else. It might be best to keep your users and their data in their own tree, and let IDM have its own tree to work with.
