PKI error during eDirectory 8.7.3 upgrade

Q:
I've been getting an error message while upgrading servers from eDir 8.6.2 to 8.7.3. The message states "PKI install is unable to create the Organizational Certificate Authority."

A:
The first thing I would check is whether you actually have a Certificate Authority. Open ConsoleOne, then go into the security container and there should be a CA - Treename object or something similar. Go to the Properties and see which server it is running on.
