I currently have an eDirectory server that is used as an LDAP server for various applications. I need to generate and configure the server to use a new LDAP certificate, because the CA that generated the original no longer exists. If I generate a new CSR, will my current certificate break until I receive the new certificate (and configure the server to use the new cert)?

A:
I don't think so, because once you've received the signed certificate back, you 'bind' it to the LDAP server. If you don't do that, it will continue using the old certificate.
