How does iPrint on NLS work?

Q:
In NNLS we have iPrint. Is this a port of NDPS over to Linux, or are we wrapping some management around CUPS?
If CUPS is installed on a server and running, and we wish to use NNLS on the same server - will they conflict?
What's the strategy going forward - are we porting or are we using what exists in the OSS world when it comes to printers & print management?
A:
iPrint on NLS is mostly a port, providing the same end-user experience as in the Windows client. There are some changes to the driver storage that simplify the management of printer drivers. There is not an iPrint client for Linux in NLS 1.0. This effort is currently in development and will be in beta testing in June as part of the Novell desktop. The client will make use of CUPS. We will be providing the same end-user experience on the Linux workstation as provided on Windows where users can install a printer with a browser. The configured PPD files and filters will be installed automatically.
There will be a conflict with port 631 if you are running CUPS on the same server as iPrint. With NLS you should first disable CUPS and then Host your printing using the iPrint server components.
