OpenOffice crashing after installing Ximian Desktop 2

I installed Ximian Desktop 2 and suddenly OpenOffice.org is crashing very frequently. It worked fine before. What's going on?



A:
Your old version of OpenOffice left behind a ~/.openoffice directory which conflicts badly with the OpenOffice.org Ximian Edition. If you remove this directory or move it out of the way, you shouldn't experience any more crashes. You can move it out of the way by opening a terminal and typing:

$ mv ~/.openoffice ~/.openoffice-backup.`date +%F`

Please make sure all OpenOffice.org applications are closed before using the above command.
