Converting OpenOffice.org macros

Novell Cool Solutions: Question & Answer

Posted: 2 Jul 2004

Q:
We're switching to OpenOffice.org and I'm wondering if there's some way to convert all my beloved macros so they'll work in OO.o.

A:
Sorry, no. OpenOffice.org uses a different version of Basic than Microsoft Office, so the macros you created in Office won't work in OO.o. The good news is, you can either record or code macros in OpenOffice, so you can make new ones once you've migrated. For an outstanding article about that, see How to create OpenOffice.org macros and automation
