Q:
In Windows, a special character like "ö" can be entered with [Alt]+0246. Is there anything similar to that in KDE?



A:
If you press the right Shift key together with the right Ctrl key in KDE and release it, the next diacritic pressed is not displayed directly. Rather, the system waits for the next key input. If the next key is a suitable letter, the respective special character is displayed on the screen.

Examples:

<Shift>+<Ctrl>,<">,<o> delivers ö
<Shift>+<Ctrl>,<~>,<n> delivers ñ
<Shift>+<Ctrl>,<,>,<C> delivers Ç
<Shift>+<Ctrl>,<^>,<a> delivers â
