Q:
I'm running ZfD 4.0.1 and when I attempt to bring up more workstationinformation I get the "workstation inventory is not present in the database"error. Queries also fail when I try to run them. I can see .STR's beingstored on the server console but cannot find them in the specifieddirectories when I browse the specified folders. Anyone have any ideas?

Try this:
Do a reinstall of the ZENworks server.
- Start by unloading all ZENworks Processes (STOPSER *, and ZFDSTOP at Console)
- Reboot the workstation you're installing from before starting the install.
- DON'T do the STANDALONE Install. You can manually create your own Packages later.
- After the updating of the schema part of the setup, verify that all JAVA processes have been stopped.
Run "JAVA -Exit" at the console.
(Some Java processes would have loaded up at that point.) - After the install, ZENworks will automatically load. UNLOAD them ALL again, including the Database.
- Create and Configure your Policy Packages. (Always stop all the ZENworks processes before making any changes to your policies!)
- After completing your policies, restart the database, inventory service, and the rest of ZENworks.
Created the inventory schedule to run at Login. The first login seemed to only create the workstation object. If you look at the Novell Desktop Management Scheduler, you should see that the scanner was run at login. You can either manually run the task again or logoff and log back in to run it again (the second scan took a little longer). The second scan should collect and write the information to the database. You should now be able to access the data from the inventory database.
Hope this helps!
