Is the ZENworks 6.5 Management Agent backwards compatible in a ZENworks for Desktops 4.x environment? For example, can I use the ZfD 4 Remote Management Console to control a 6.5 Agent?
A:
None of the new features included with ZENworks 6.5 will work in this type of environment. Knowing this, you can expect the following:
Application Management: This will work based on the fact that all the files are local, and none of the dependent NDS attributes have changed.
Desktop Management: This will work based on the fact that all the files are local, and none of the dependent NDS attributes have changed.
Remote Management: This will not work. The ZfD 4.x Remote Management Console will not control a ZDM 6.5 Agent.
Workstation Inventory: This will not work. Inventory scans from ZDM 6.5 Agent have a different table structure that will not allow them to be stored into a ZfD 4.x backend server.
Imaging: This component should work without any problems.
