Q:
I want to be able to distribute files across the internet, but I need to know some things about the security of packet distribution across a non-secure connection. What kind of encryption does ZENworks for Servers use? During the configuration of the distribution, we have a way to select a weak or strong encryption, can you explain the difference?
A:
If encryption is used, we use RC4 encryption to send the data on the wire. We use 56-bit encryption for weak encryption and 128 bit encryption for strong encryption. Remember that you need NICI for encryption and NICI must be installed on the machine where the distributor and subscriber runs. NICI ships with NetWare by default and an install for Windows and Linux is provided on the companion CD.
