We need to remain operational until the new server and software is configured of course. We have been looking at servers that have options of NSBS at certain prices but do not include all the licenses that we are looking for. Our goal is new server, NSBS 5.1 w/ server +40 users. Suggestions for Company w/ fixed income and resources?

Dave, the upgrade from NSBS 4.2 to NSBS 5.1 is very easy:
- Purchase an NSBS 5.1, 25-user UPGRADE package. (You have to upgrade to the same number of users that your current system has.)
- Before you actually upgrade the server, put the installation CD in a client machine on your network. It will then auto-run the DSMIGRATE utility, which updates your version of NDS.
- Then put the installation CD in the 4.2 server to install the new 5.1 server. Make sure you choose the UPGRADE option during the install process. This process should take less than an hour, and then you will be operational again.
- You can then increase the user count on your 5.1 server from 25 to 40 users over time as your budget allows by purchasing additional user licenses individually for $70 per user. These individual licenses are very easy to install.
