ML wrote: I have got a problem regarding using Tobit FaxWare and a external serial modem. The problem: While sending a fax, at approximately 50% the modemdisconnects the telephone line and after a while FaxWare reports "carrier lost".
The situation:
Compaq Proliant 800 and ML 370
NW5.0 with SP6a, OS5PT2a, COMx218
Tobit FaxWare 6 with SP1
Multimodem 56000ZDX external modem

I tried the following:
BIOS upgrade server to latest version
Compaq NSSD 610a installed (latest version)
modem replaced by new one (multimodem ZDXe-56000, external) connected to com1 on the server
standard (generic) driver used in FaxWare
standard CLASS 1 en CLASS 2 faxmodem driver used
specific driver for modem used (multimodem ZDX56000)
modem connected on different comport (COM2)
changed the parameters of aiocomx.nlm
increased speed to 57600 baud (standard 19200)

On the old server I finally solved the problem with using an add-on ISA serial port, so wethought there was a defect on the onboard serial controller. Now I have replaced the (Compaq) server (PL800) with a new one (ML370) and the problem came back with the onboard serial ports. I can't put my ISA serial in the new server because it has only PCIslots. I can't imagine the the new server also has a defective serial controller. I called Compaq and Tobit and they can't give me an solution for this problem, and I don't think that I am the one only one with this problem. Has anyone seen this problem before and found a solution?

One expert we heard from said he had the same problem with a Proliant ML370. He installed a Digiboard serial I/O card (PCI) and it worked perfectly with that. There does seem to be a problem with Compaq serial ports and Faxware.
