Q:
What is the difference between NetWare 5.1 and Novell Small Business Suite 5.1?
A:
The NetWare functionality is exactly the same in both packages. The biggest differences are in how it is licensed and how it can be configured.
- Novell Small Business Suite can only be run with other Small Business Suite Servers of the same version in the same tree.
- Small Business Suite can only have one NDS partition (not multiple partitions).
- Licensing is different, in Small Business there is a limitation of 50 users per tree, and is Nodal (meaning that it requires one user license per workstation to log in to all of the servers in the tree as opposed to requiring a license for each server that a workstation logs into).
- Applications are bundled within the Small Business Suite that will not work on a regular NetWare 5.1 server (BorderManager, GroupWise, etc.).
