We wish to upgrade to SBS 6.0 and run three servers.

We want to buy two server licenses (S+5 and S+25). We read documentation to mean we can have four servers and 30 users.

Our reseller says we can only have 2 servers on a SBS 6 installation.

What is the correct answer?

Here is the answer straight from our technical support team:

With the purchase of two server licenses, you can have a total of three servers in the same tree. For each server license you buy, you are entitled to call Novell and get a second server license for free. However, it does not work to put both of the Novell-supplied licenses in the same tree--they are not unique server licenses. So the three licenses that you can have in the same tree would be the two licenses you bought, plus one of the licenses supplied by Novell. You can install four server licenses by putting two server licenses (one that you bought, and one that Novell supplied) in one tree, and your other two licenses in another tree.
