Configuring a proxy hierarchy

Novell Cool Solutions: Question & Answer

Q:
I have found an organization that filters a class of URLs that I also want filtered. They do this on their own proxy (but do not filter any other content) and have given me permission to use their proxy. This would save me a lot of time and effort (not to mention anxiety!). I am pretty sure it can't work, but I thought I would ask just in case there is a way to make it happen.

A:
Actually, the answer is yes. What you need to do is to configure a proxy hierarchy:
1. Go to HTTP proxy, click on Details, Cache hierarchy client.
2. Enable the cache hierarchy client and add a neighbor. The neighbor will bethe other proxy.
3. Configure the port where this port is listening and select CERN. You might want to ask the administrator of the other proxy if they support ICP hierarchy routing - in any case, they all support CERN hierarchy.
That's it!
