I am using NetWare 6.4 with BorderManager 3.8. When I connect to the vpn from home, I lose my internet connection. How do I get it back while I am connected?
A:
You have to configure the VPN settings on the server to encrypt only the internal LAN(s) of the business network. With 3.8, you will need to add a traffic rule to bypass all networks, and put that below the rule that encrypts the internal networks.
Some admins like the fact that you cannot connect to the Internet when VPN'd in. It makes it safer for the production LAN, in that your PC is less likely to be a hacker's entry point into the network, while the VPN is up.
