RB asked: I have 28 sites each with a NetWare server, either NW5.1sp6 eDir 8.85 orNW6.0sp3 eDir 8.6.2. The master replica server is eDir 8.7.1 and is runningNICI 2.6 the rest of the servers are running NICI 2.0.1. Each site has ar/w replica of its own container. Local users authenticate using the localreplica and all use the NetWare Client32. I will be installing NSL 3.51 andSecretStore 3.2.
Do I need to install the SecretStore server components on each of the servers that users log in to or just the master replica server?
A:
RB, you should to have SecretStore installed on every server where the users actually authenticate. This will make sure that the SecretStore is always available where the user authenticates. You also need to ensure that the server with SecretStore has a copy of the users partition locally. Once this is the case you can rely on the fail-over technology within SecretStore to make sure it keeps running when the local SecretStore server is taken down for maintenance.
