Should I worry about firewalls and anti-virus protection in Linux?

Novell Cool Solutions: Question & Answer

Q:
I connect my Linux machine to quite a few customer's networks, and when they ask if I have the appropriate anti-virus software and firewalls installed, I have to answer "no". Is there software available for this?

A:
Yes.
Even though Linux is inherently more secure than windows, it also isn't a bad idea to get software to protect it more. ClamAV is a good choice for anti-virus software, and for firewalls, YAST contains an easy-to-setup configuration wizard for Linux's firewall.
