iFolder Scalability and Performance limits

Novell Cool Solutions: Question & Answer

Q:
The ifolder FAQ describes the maximum number of user directories at around 32000. I'm wondering what the maximum number of user files is and is there big performance hits for larger numbers of files? I have a user that requires several hundred thousand files.

Also, the files are stored on the server in some sort of raw format, is there a way to configure it so that files are stored in a regular file format on the server? This would be so non-iFolder users could access the files.

A:
A machine running a 2 Ghz CPU, 1.5-2 GB RAM and local disk storage (not SAN) should support 800 users.

As for the second part of your question, no can do. The right answer is to have your non-iFolder folks use NetStorage.
